Close to Vadstenakloster is the Dahlströmska farm, dating back to the 18th century. This is where we found the motif that formed the basis for our wallpaper. The pattern was originally part of a stencil painting and comes from the murals that were on the farm until the 1860s.

Stencilling dates back to the Middle Ages but had its heyday in the 18th and 19th centuries. Stencilling was a widely used technique for decorating the walls of residential buildings. It was common to stencil entire walls as a substitute for the more expensive novelty of paper wallpaper.

Fragments of the old paintings and wallpaper have been preserved and can still be seen at the Dahlströmska farm in Vadstena.
