Meet Maria Bryngemark, the designer behind Strandäng and Tuva

At Durovägen 15 we find our head of design Maria Bryngemark. The design studio on the second floor has a fantastic light entry and the walls are covered with ongoing and planned patterns.

Maria has led the design work at Duro Sweden for more than eight years and is the one who designed the collection Hav & Land. The collection remains in the borderland between the water and the sand. It is the result of several years of work where she has gathered inspiration during all the long walks along the coast. Maria certainly has a close relationship with nature.

Strandäng and Tuva, opposites that attract

Strandäng is a bold pattern that makes a statement, whereas Tuva is the opposite. It is a small dense pattern that forms a living surface when you look at it from a distance.

“A collection is a real team effort. At Duro, everyone is involved in the process. This time, Niklas, who works in production, suggested a different prime colour on Strandäng which was the one we ended up with. It is so much fun that everyone is so committed to the product.” /Maria Bryngemark

“The parts for the pattern Strandäng I have picked up during my hikes. I put them in different shapes until I was satisfied and then I drew it. Now the pattern is finally finished and ready to find a home.” /Maria Bryngemark
